When the shot blasting machine is in use, it is normal for the shot blasting machine to vibrate. However, if the vibration amplitude or noise is very large, it should be stopped immediately for inspection. The main reasons for the noise of the shot blasting machine come from the following aspects:


(1) Vibration noise caused by self-unbalance


The impeller speed is relatively high, generally 2000-3000r/min, and some even above 5000r/min, and there is an unbalanced moment caused by quality reasons. In addition, the 8 blades installed on the impeller, due to the quality difference, aggravate the imbalance between the impellers, therefore, the vibration generated during operation is relatively large, and the noise is relatively high.

Improvement measures:


  • a: Improve the machining accuracy of the impeller body itself.
  • b: Make balance correction on the impeller body
  • c: Make balance correction on the impeller body
  • d: There must be strict quality requirements for the eight blades on the impeller.


At present, most of the impellers of domestic shot blasting machines consist of a set of four or eight blades. Each blade should be accurately weighed. When selecting blades, it is necessary to ensure that the quality difference of each blade is less than or equal to 59g. It should be replaced radially in pairs or in groups.


(2) Frictional noise generated between the projectile and the blade


When the projectile flies out of the directional sleeve at a low speed and enters the root of the spit, the spit flies out radially. During this process, there is both sliding friction and rolling friction between the projectile and the blade. The friction coefficient is larger, so the friction noise is more intense.


Improvement measures of shot blasting machine:


  • a. Use projectiles with impact resistance and low crushing rate.
  • b: The hardness of the selected blade should be uniform, there should be no slag inclusion, interlayer, or umbilical shrinkage in the interior, the surface is smooth, and the roughness (Ra) should be above 12.5 to reduce the friction with the projectile.



(3) Frictional noise between pellets, projectiles and directional sleeves


The pelletizing wheel is rotating, while the directional sleeve is fixed. When the projectile falls into the gap between the pelletizing wheel and the directional sleeve under the action of centrifugal force, if the gap between the two is too small, the friction will be particularly severe, which will crush the projectile or break the pelletizing wheel and the directional sleeve. Oriented sleeve extrusion crack.


Modification measures: The selected projectile size should meet the requirements of the gap between the shot separation wheel and the directional sleeve, and be able to meet the process requirements of shot blasting. The gap between the pelletizing wheel and the directional sleeve should be 3-5 times the maximum diameter of the projectile. In order to prevent the directional sleeve and the pelletizing wheel from producing severe friction and causing cracking, the gap on one side should be too large.
